Emily Chandler

HEAD DIRECTOR

Emily Chandlerhas been a member of the Viper Choir team for 3 years.  

Prior to joining the Viper Choir team, Mrs. Chandler served as the Director of Choirs at Seven Lakes High School in Katy ISD from 2014-2019. Under her direction, the choirs at SLHS continued their legacy of excellence, artistry and community by earning consistent sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, producing All-State Singers, as well as creating innovative choral programs for the entire Katy community. In 2018, the SLHS Chorale Women, under the direction of Mrs. Chandler, was an invited choir at the SWACDA Convention in Oklahoma City.

Prior to moving to Texas, Mrs. Chandler received a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University where she was the conductor of the University Singers, Harter M. Memorial Handbell Choir and co-conductor of the Chamber Singers. Prior to graduate study, Mrs. Chandler was the Director of Choirs at Oak-Land Junior High in Stillwater, Minnesota from 2010-2012. Mrs. Chandler received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) in 2010, where she served as the student director to Dr. Anton Armstrong and alto section leader for the St. Olaf Choir. She also served as the assistant conductor to Mrs. Sigrid Johnson and The Manitou Singers.

Mrs. Chandler is a native South Carolinian who loves to travel and experience new cultures! When she’s not singing or conducting, Mrs. Chandler loves to hike and spend time with her husband, Arash and their amazing cat, Peter Pumpkin.

Emma Lee

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Emma Lee is excited to be stepping into a new role as the Associate Director with the Vandegrift HS Choirs. Mrs. Lee is coming from Cedar Park Middle School, where she taught from 2017-2023 and was head choral director for the last three years.

While at CPMS, Mrs. Lee taught all ages and skill levels. She also assisted the Varsity Treble Choir in their performance at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention as an invited choir in2020.

She is a native of Ausin and attended Bowie High School in south Austin, where her love of choral and instrumental music started. Mrs. Lee is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied music education and obtained a performance certificate in voice. While in college, she was a member of the Longhorn Singers and a clarinet section leader in the Longhorn Band.

In her spare time, she loves leading worship and volunteering at her church, frequenting the local Alamo Drafthouse, traveling and thru hiking, and supporting her Texas Longhorns.
